These pages are dedicated to my dad.
I lost him to prostate cancer May 21, 2003.
He was diagnosed with cancer when he was 56 years old and fought the battle until 2 days before his 76th birthday.

My Favorite Childhood Memories

So many memories to numerous to list but these are just a few....

Annual family vacations to Florida, leaving before daybreak and getting to sleep in the cozy bed that mom and dad had made for me in the back seat of the car...

Dad bringing my favorite beverage (Ginger Ale) home for me to drink when I was sick along with coloring books, crayons and paper dolls....

Going to the lake on weekends and dad letting me drive the boat around the lake "all by myself", with him standing behind me of couse....

Dad cooking for us when mom was at work, pork & beans with ketsup and saltine crackers. Well...a cook he wasn't but at least he tried....

My first camping trip with mom and dad to the mountains...I was scared of the dark and so afraid that a bear would get us. We left the camping site and got a motel room instead....

Going to get ice cream on hot summer days in my dad's pickup truck with our family dog "Jay Bird" sitting between us. She got an ice cream too....

Dad stopping by the roadside to let me pick wildflowers....

The Rainbow Bridge

There is a bridge connecting Heaven and Earth.
It is called the Rainbow Bridge because of its many colors.
Just this side of the Rainbow Bridge,
there is a land of meadows,
hills and valleys with lush green grass.

When a beloved pet dies.
the pet goes to this place.
There is always food and water and warm spring weather.
The old and frail animals are young again.
Those who were maimed are made whole again.
They play all day with each other.

There is only one thing missing.
They are not with their special person who loved them on earth.
So, each day they run and play until
the day comes
when one suddenly stops playing and looks up!
The nose twitches!
The ears stand up!
The eyes are staring!
And this one suddenly runs from the group!

You have been seen,
and when you and your special friend meet,
you take them in your arms and embrace.
Your face is kissed again and again
and again,
and you look once more
into the eyes of your trusting pet.

Then you cross the Rainbow Bridge together,
never again to be separated.
